Our client, a start-up venture offering a complete end to end payment solution to their customers are seeking a Senior Solution Architect to join their team. You will be part of growing business and will work in the Berkshire area. The Senior Solution Architect will deliver solution architect designs and technical infrastructure requirements. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in the payments or banking or fintech industry, and would like to be in a leadership position where he or she can provide assistance of prospect with choosing the right set of products and designing the appropriate application or integrations.

Key Responsibilities

  • To manage relations with software architects, developers, project and product managers
  • To work alongside the sales team to ensure a complete understanding of the client requirement
  • To lead solution architecture design, and application development
  • To document and present the solution architecture to the client and take a leading role in the application design and integration aspects of the solution
  • To provide assistance with choosing the right set of tools a and products and designing the appropriate applications
  • To maintain a high level of commercial and technical understanding of the relevant business area and technical specialism
  • To be able to provide support and guidance to more junior team members.
  • To complete ad hoc duties and tasks allocated through line management chain

Skills & Experience

  • Ideally educated to degree level (first class or upper second)
  • Proven experience of solutions architecture
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience working in a commercial environment
  • Extensive knowledge of either detailed infrastructure design or software solutions design and relevant architectural techniques
  • Ability to understand and clearly articulate current and future technology platforms and their benefits
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to mixed audiences
  • Experience of operating in a customer facing role communicating technology issues
  • Strong relationship building, communication, and influencing skills
  • Experience of working with iterative methodologies (Agile, Scrum, XP, RUP, etc)
  • A pragmatic but innovative problem solver combined with a highly delivery focused style
  • Proven experience of delivering technical projects

 Essential skills and experience

  • Extensive experience of Cloud Hosting (AWS) with knowledge of migrating to AWS from legacy system
  • Expert knowledge of networks, VPNs, firewalls, load-balancing, high availability and resilience in an AWS environment
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS components
  • In-depth knowledge of automating AWS Infrastructure environment
  • Knowledge of Continuous Deployment/Continuous Integration
  • Experience of using tools such as JIRA or Slack.
  • Knowledge of Unix, particularly Linux
  • Experience with Oracle
  • Experience with Windows Server 2008 and Active Directory
  • Ability to train and mentor lesser-experienced team members
  • Knowledge of PCI DSS standard and other information security best practices
  • Aware of ITIL and Agile methodologies
  • Good verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Appetite to work in a small technical team
  • Able to troubleshoot and manage problems, escalating where necessary
  • Excellent writing skills and able to produce quality technical documentation
  • Should have worked in a large IT Server environment for at least 7 years
  • Should be a car driver and willing to travel to other sites when required
